How do I protect myself from unfair dismissal?
Employees are protected by the Labour Relations Act. Unfair dismissal occurs when an employee is terminated without a fair reason or without following the correct procedures. If you believe you’ve been unfairly dismissed, you can lodge a dispute with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) within 30 days. The CCMA will attempt to mediate or arbitrate the dispute.
